Feel free to expand on answers with an additional page of comments.

We will take any supplementary remarks into account.

1)   Do you believe that individual law abiding Massachusetts citizens should have the right to keep and bear firearms?  Y/N

Yes.

All residents of Massachusetts have the right to keep and bear firearms, not just the citizens.  Legal aliens also have the same rights as everyone else.

2)   Would you approve firearms ownership for:

Hunting Y/N  - Y                                       Personal protection Y/N  - Y

Competitive shooting Y/N  - Y                   Constitutional rights Y/N  - Y

Informal sport shooting Y/N  - Y                Collecting Y/N  - Y

I support the ownership of firearms for any and all reasons.  A reason is not required to justify owning a firearm.

3)   Do you believe that a citizen ought to be able to possess a handgun in their home or place of business without a License to Carry Firearms?

[X]  Yes.

[ ]  Yes, but they should have an FID card in order to go through the background check.

[ ]  No.  A License to Carry Firearms should be required.

The gun laws in this country should be limited to the 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution.  The wording of the Massachusetts version of the 2nd Amendment is phrased even more strongly.

4)   Do you believe that after time has passed from the completion of sentencing, or payment of fines for a conviction, a citizen's right to possess and use firearms, rifles, and shotguns should be restored?

[X]  Yes.  After __0__ years with a clean record, a person's firearms rights should be restored.

[X]  No.  If a person was ever convicted of a crime, they should never handle guns.

If someone is going to have their rights suspended after they get out of jail, then the suspension of those rights needs to be part of the sentence passed.  To pass laws to strip individuals of rights after the end of their sentence is criminal.  No one has the right to strip the right to own firearms from individuals who are not actively serving a criminal sentence.

5)   Would you support a home rule petition allowing a municipality to make stricter laws than the state regarding:

Firearms? Y/N  - No                                  Hunting? Y/N  - No

6)   Do you believe that any entity other than the legislature (or agencies which the legislature has empowered to oversee the law) has the authority to regulate firearms ownership?

[X]  No, the legislature should have sole authority.

[ ]  Yes, the legislature's authority should be shared with:

[ ] The courts            [ ]  Governmental agencies

[ ]  Other: ____________________________________

7)   Current state law bans so-called covert guns, that is guns that do not look like guns. For all other guns, a person must have a license or card in order to purchase and possess handguns, rifles and shotguns.  Licenses and cards are issued only after a background check verifies that a person has never been convicted of a felony, a violent crime, or misdemeanor punishable by more than two years imprisonment, and that the applicant is not mentally ill.  Given these strict criteria, do you support legislation banning the lawful manufacture, sale, and transfer of:

[ ] All guns  [X] no guns [ ] All handguns  [ ] All rifles  [ ] All shotguns

[ ] All air guns

[ ] If yes, please specify: ______________________________

No firearms should be banned.  No exceptions.

8)   Would you support the creation of a firearms license examiners board (similar to the system used by other states)  to review whether or not license denials were just? Elsewhere the boards have quasi-judicial authority, yet relieve court backlogs and do not necessitate the fees associated with court proceedings.

[X]  Yes, I would support.              [ ] No.

I would protect the freedoms of people through the creation of a board to keep government in check, and reduce the abuse of law.

9)   Do you believe that local licensing authorities should have the power to choose which law abiding citizens can use firearms for personal protection based on their own personal beliefs or should it be based on a finding of facts about the applicant?

[ ]  The chief should be able to deny applicants based on reasons outside a law's specific criteria.

[X]  The chief should only deny someone based on a finding of facts.

The chief should not be able to deny anyone a License to Carry, or to place restrictions on the LTC as long as all legal requirements put forth by state law have been met.

10)  Would you support legislation to reimburse court costs for law-abiding citizens whom the courts decide were improperly denied a license to carry?

[X]  Yes, I would support.              [ ] No.

11)             Which of the following choices best describes your attitude toward hunting as a sport?

[ ] The hunting tradition should be eliminated.

[X]  Hunting as a sport should be preserved, and is an essential tool of wildlife management.

[ ]  Other: __________________________________________

My personal opinion is that hunting should be preserved.  My official campaign position is that the state has no business encouraging or prohibiting any sport, be it football, baseball, soccer, or hunting.

12)             Our state's Division of Fisheries and Wildlife budget is supported solely by sportsmen, through license sales and taxes on the manufacture and sale of guns and ammunition.  Sportsmen therefore pay for protecting all wildlife, even non-game.  In 1946, the state legislature established the Fisheries and Wildlife Board to oversee the Division of Fisheries and Wildlife; regulate hunting, fishing and trapping; and supervise the Division budget.  Would you support the appointment of individuals to the Board who seek to end or severely restrict the hunting and fishing traditions?

[ ] I would support such appointments.        [X]  I would oppose such appointments.

13)             Are you a present or past member of Gun Owners' Action League?  Do you belong to a local sportsman's club or other gun owner's association?

I am a past member of GOAL, but suspect that my membership has lapsed.  If so, I intend to renew my membership.  I am also the founder of the Pink Pistols.

14)             Have you ever participated in or attended any GOAL sponsored events?

I have been to one or two GOAL fund raising dinners.

SPECIAL SERVICE FOR CANDIDATES:

Gun Owner's Action League offers candidates the opportunity to have a statement printed in our monthly news magazine, The Outdoor Message, which is sent to all members.  There is no charge for this service.  Your statement must address how you feel about the private ownership of firearms and can cover other issues important to your district.  Your statement should conclude with information on how to contact your campaign.

Details of my campaign, including how I've answered all of my questionnaires can be found at http://www.krick.us.  Should I receive the endorsement from GOAL, it will be prominently displayed on my website and all campaign literature.  I would be proud to receive it.  Discriminatory licensing within Massachusetts need to stop now.

My involvement with Massachusetts politics began in 1998, when I was working with the Dean Cook for Governor campaign.  Since then I have created a new shooting organization known as the Pink Pistols.  http://www.pinkpistols.org.

As a State Representative I pledge that I will vote for individual freedom on every issue every time.  Including firearm ownership.  No exceptions.  No excuses.  Furthermore, I will introduce legislation to bring to Massachusetts Alaska-style concealed carry.  (No permits required.  You can apply for one if you choose, for reciprocity agreements recognized by other states.)
