DISTRICT:  14th Suffolk                  PARTY:  Libertarian

1.    Do you support reducing the State Income Tax rate to 5% (Eliminating the present 5.3% “freeze” on the tax to the 5% rate that voters approved in 2000)?  YES

If yes, by what date?  Immediately.

Will you make this reduction a major issue in your campaign?  UNDECIDED

I have not determined if this will be a major issue of my campaign, due to the nature of my district.  But I will not shy away from the issues should they arise.  If I receive your endorsement, it will be prominently displayed on my campaign website (http://www.krick.us) and it will be on all of my campaign literature.  This will have the effect of bringing the issue of taxation to the front.

2.    True fees cover the cost of the service provided.  Recent taxes parading as fees include the tax on self-paying nursing home residents.  Would you support the repeal of such taxes?  YES.

3.    Do you approve of any changes to Proposition 2 ½?  NOT ENOUGH DATA

I would have to see the bill in question before I would comment on it.  In principal, I agree with Proposition 2 ½.  I would only approve changes that protect the taxpayer from additional fees and taxes.

4.    Would you oppose exclusions from the Prop 2 ½ levy limit (e.g. the local overlay account as proposed by the Mass. Municipal Association; the amount of local aid cuts as proposed by the Mas Association of School Committees)?  YES

5.    Would you support gradually lowering property taxes by using the property tax only for general government (public safety, public works, etc.), while paying for education with existing broad based state taxes instead?  YES.

Note:  I would not support any increase of other broad-based state taxes.

6.    If the state budget isn't balanced, which of the following measures would you support?

[X]  a)  cut state spending.

[ ] b)  raise taxes

[ ] c)  increase fees

[ ] d)  require businesses to pay more

[ ] e)  other

7.    Would you support a proposal that senior citizens be excluded from a tax increase due to the passage of Prop 2 ½'s override question?  YES.
